PSA are seeking a hands-on Precast Workshop Assistant (Leading Hand) to support the preparation, casting and handling of concrete test specimens and small precast elements.

About the Role

This is a low-volume, high-quality workshop environment focused on engineering, testing and product development — not production-line work. You will play an important role in day-to-day workshop activities while helping build our in-house testing capability.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and assemble formwork for concrete specimens and small precast elements

• Set up reinforcement, inserts and lifting components in accordance with drawings

• Coordinate and assist with concrete pours using pre-mixed concrete

• Strip formwork and prepare specimens for testing

• Safely lift, move and handle concrete elements using appropriate lifting systems

• Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop and casting area

• Work closely with engineers to support test setup and product development activities

• Take a leading role on the floor, guiding the labourer and coordinating daily tasks

• Ensure safety, quality and housekeeping standards are maintained

About You

• Experience in precast, concreting, construction or similar hands-on environments

• Confident using hand tools, power tools and workshop equipment

• Able to read and follow basic drawings, plans and instructions

• Practical problem-solver with a proactive, get-it-done attitude

• Comfortable taking ownership of small jobs and coordinating workflow

• Physically capable of manual handling and workshop-based work
