Civil or Structural Engineer – Precast Concrete Specialist

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Civil or Structural Engineer – Precast Concrete Specialist to join our team, supporting the design, planning, and certification of temporary works for precast and in-situ concrete applications across Australia.
This is a hands-on engineering role with a strong focus on lifting, bracing, handling, transport, and erection of precast elements. You will play a critical role in delivering safe, compliant, and buildable solutions that align with project timelines and client expectations.
About the Role
You will be responsible for the design and certification of temporary works associated with precast concrete elements including walls, façades, stairs, slabs, and beams. Working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders, you will contribute to both design delivery and on-site outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Design and certify lifting, bracing, strongbacks, and temporary works systems
Prepare clear and accurate design documentation including calculations, reports, sketches, and certifications
Review shop drawings and erection methodologies, providing practical buildability advice
Perform stability assessments for lifting, transport, storage, and temporary conditions
Apply and interpret relevant Australian Standards (AS 3850, AS 3600, AS/NZS 1170 series)
Respond to RFIs and provide timely technical support to clients and site teams
Conduct site inspections across precast yards and construction sites, producing concise reports
Collaborate with local and offshore engineering and drafting teams
Contribute to continuous improvement, QA processes, and design systems
Promote a strong safety culture and risk-aware design approach
About You
Qualified Civil / Structural Engineer with a focus on temporary works and lifting systems for concrete elements
Qualifications recognised by Engineers Australia (or equivalent)
Current Victorian Driver’s Licence
Minimum 1–2 years’ technical design experience in the building industry
Minimum 2–3 years’ experience within precast or in-situ concrete environments
Solid understanding of precast and in-situ concrete construction design and practices
Exposure to large building formwork and/or civil infrastructure processes and requirements
Experience using Microsoft Office Suite and CAD drawings
Strong understanding of Australian Standards, particularly AS 3850
Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise across multiple stakeholders
Proactive, detail-oriented, and solutions-focused
